Rep. McKeon is a strong supporter of protecting our environment. In the past few years, McKeon has worked very hard to improve the environmental protection and restoration in the Antelope, Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys.
For instance, Rep. McKeon has secured over $9 million to clean up perchlorate contamination on the Whittaker-Bermite site in the City of Santa Clarita, which has contributed to the contamination of several underground drinking water wells, and have also secured funding to help clean up non-native weeds in the Santa Clara River. Furthermore, Rep. McKeon secured funding for the repair of a sewer line in the Santa Clara River that, if it had broken free, would have contaminated the river with thousands of tons of raw sewage.
Rep. McKeon is more than willing to work hard for the protection of the environment. It is our responsibility to provide cleaner air, purer water, and abundant species to our future generations. As long as we make certain that environmental action is conducted through the use of sound science and community consensus, you can be certain that Rep. McKeon will continue to fight for the further protection of the environment.
